Bertha "Pat" Tomazic, 88, Enjoyed Casino Trips

Photo of Bertha Bertha “Pat” Tomazic (nee Patterson), 88, of Lorain, died Sunday November 30, 2014 after a brief illness and is now reunited with her husband Dick.

She was born April 30, 1926 in Lakewood, grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Lakewood High School. She attended nursing school at City Hospital (MetroHealth Medical Center) in Cleveland and then completed nursing school in New York City and then moved to Lorain.

Pat worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain and a longtime member St. John Catholic Church in Lorain. She was active with her children as they attended St. John School and served in the school Mother’s Club.

Pat was a member to KSKJ Slovenian Lodge #85 and Buckeye Slovenian Lodge. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sports and casino trips. For many years, she and her friends gathered at each others homes to play Pinochle. But most of all Pat was very dedicated to her family and enjoyed family activities.

She is survived by her children Gary Tomazic (Shari) of Brunswick, Darryl Tomazic (Beverly) of Lorain, Deborah Shedron (Jim) of New London and Dennis Tomazic (Myrna), Cathy Conley (Les) and Charlene Metelsky (John), all of Lorain, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Richard E. “Dick” Tomazic on March 9, 2008, parents Hurbert & Bertha Patterson (nee Preble) and brothers Harold and Wallace Patterson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr, Lorain. The Rev. John Retar, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
