Eleanor K. Cizl, 95, Avid Animal Lover

Photo of Eleanor K. Cizl Eleanor K. Cizl, 95, (nee Herbert) of Sheffield Lake passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at her home from natural causes.

Mrs. Cizl was born in Lorain on December 17, 1919, the daughter of the late Alfred D. and Lillian Margaret (nee Rose) Herbert. She graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1938 A.

She was a sales representative with Avon Products for more than 25 years and had worked at Sutter's Sandwich Shops for 25 years.

She was a homemaker and an avid animal lover. She was the association secretary for the Lorain Women's Bowling League and an inducted member of the Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She served as the Regional Director for the Young American Bowling Alliance as well as being an active youth league bowling coach and secretary for many years. She was also active with Brookside Band Boosters, Sheffield Lake Youth Baseball Program and was recognized as Sheffield Lake Woman of the Year.

Mrs. Cizl is survived by her daughter Cheryl J. Mateka, of Winter Springs, FL, a son Mark A (LuAnn) Cizl, of Sheffield Lake, D. Benton of Lorain, grandchildren Michelle (David) Dillehay, George Mateka III, Valerie Cizl, Jeffrey (Julie) Cizl, great grandchildren, George Mateka IV, Robin Mateka, and Avery Cizl.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Harry B. Cizl in 1998, daughter Elaine K Benton 2011, son in law George Mateka Jr. 2014, sister Pearl Dobeck and brother in law Chester Dobeck.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Chaplain Roger Loomis, chaplain of the Crossroads Hospice, officiating.

Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
