Delbert R. Yepko, 81, U.S. Marine Veteran
Delbert R. Yepko, age 81, of Eaton Township, passed away at his residence on the morning of Tuesday December 30th, 2014.He was born in Lorain on February 16, 1933 and was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Del served in the United States Merchant Marines prior to joining the Ford Motor Company. He was employed as a production planning supervisor for the automaker at both the Lorain Assembly and Ohio Truck Plants. He retired in 1988.
Mr. Yepko was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elyria; in his free time he enjoyed dancing. He also possessed a love for fishing as well as being around the water.
He leaves his wife of eleven years Sandra (nee Zorko), his son Jeffrey J. (Lori) Yepko of Shelby Township, Michigan, and step-sons James Urbansky (Zorko) of Senecaville, Ohio, and John Zorko residing in San Francisco. Additional survivors include granddaughters Gina, Arianna, Annalisa, and Marina, as well as his brother Hubert Yepko, DDS of Atkinson, North Carolina..
Del was preceded in death by his son Michael in 1983, by his father John Yepko in 1964, by his mother Agnes Schmetzer (nee Gonas) on November 16, 2014, by his step-father Bernard Schmetzer in 1985, and by his sister Alice Vines also in 1985.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Chuck Berens officiating. Interment will be in Hinckley Ridge Cemetery in Hinckley Township.
