Virginia A. Maccombs, 82, Enjoyed Gardening and Bowling

Photo of Virginia A. Maccombs Virginia A. Maccombs (nee Mroski), age 82, of Elyria, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan 5, 2015 at her home in Elyria and surrounded by her family.

She was born October 17, 1932 in Lorain, Ohio to the late Stanley and Anna (nee Czech) Mroski.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1950. Upon her graduation she was employed by the Cleveland Electric and Illumination Company followed by holding various positions within the retail industry. Her career culminated with over 17 years of dedicated service at Ontarios/Cooks Retail Store in Elyria as department manager of camera and photography.

She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post # 1079 in Elyria, an avid member of the First United Methodist Church of Elyria, and enjoyed gardening and canning with her husband, bowling, ceramics, playing cards, playing slot machines, and traveling. She traveled extensively throughout the United States with the occasional trip to the United Kingdom and France.

Most importantly, family came first for Virginia and spending time with them brought her great joy! Virginia had a passion for life and an enduring love for her husband Gerald of 58 years. Her beauty, committed love and devotion to life are reflected in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald of Elyria; her daughters Deborah (Dennis) Hartzel of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Shelly-Michele (Bryan) Pavlich of Centerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Melissa Hartzel, Stephanie (Jonathan) Demorest, Rachel Pavlich, and Nicholas Hartzel; great grandchildren, Zoe Demorest, Mackenzie Eans, and Jonathan Demorest Junior (JJ); sister Elaine Price (Mroski); and brother Ronald Mroski.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tamie Jo in 2001; her parents Stanley and Anna (nee Czech) Mroski; her in-laws Porter and Addie (nee Hankison) Maccombs; and by her sister Geraldine Mudrock in 1988

The Maccombs family will receive friends in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday January 9th. Closing services will be observed in the funeral chapel on Saturday January 10th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church (312 3rd Street in Elyria). Reverend Dalton Love will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven memory Gardens, Avon.
