Olga Zilka, 85, Enjoyed Spending Time with Grandchildren

Photo of Olga Zilka Olga Zilka (nee Bailey), 85, of Sheffield Township, died Wednesday April 1, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born May 12, 1929 in Walhonding, Ohio and had resided in the Sheffield Township/Lorain area most of her life.

Olga was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain and St. Ann’s Lodge #114. She enjoyed writing poetry, crocheting and playing cards. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia VanBuren of Lorain, grandchildren Stephanie and Brian Zilka and Andrew and Grant VanBuren, great grandchildren Noah, Emma, Mason and Kayden Moore and Stella VanBuren and sister Annie Dominquez of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Zilka on November 6, 2013, son Brian A. Zilka on February 15, 2015, parents John and Mary Bailey (nee Hakos), brother Michael Bailey and sisters Anne Guiffre, Helen Noga, Mary Abraham and Sue Zilka.

The family will receive friends Monday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Panachida Service will be held Monday at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel. The Divine Liturgy will be held Monday at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St, Lorain. The Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
