Joesph B. Huber, 86, Enjoyed the outdoors

He graduated from Avon Lake High School in 1946 where he lettered in all sports throughout his four years. He then served as a combat engineer in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. As a Corporal attached to the 10th Engineer’s Battalion, he was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars as well as the United Nations Service Medal; Mr. Huber was a life member of VFW Post #1662 in Amherst.
In 1991 after 36 years as a pipefitter and maintenance technician, he retired from BF Goodrich in Avon Lake. Prior to that he had been employed at CEI Avon Lake and worked on many construction projects including building the CEI and Fruehauf facilities.
Coke was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain.
He enjoyed the outdoors in every way especially taking care of his garden and flowers and feeding his birds. Coke was dedicated to his family and also took great pride in never missing any of his grandchildren’s academic and sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years Mary (nee Kundrat), son Joseph J. Huber (Connie) of Amherst Township, and daughters Sue Schneider (Ken) of Amherst, Sandra Kozlowski (Brian) of Amherst Township, and Sharie Murray (Tom) of Roswell, Georgia, and his ten grandchildren Mike and Tim Schneider, Joe, Josh and Jenna Huber, Elizabeth and Rebecca Kozlowski, and Tyler (Chelsea), Connor and Colten Murray. Additional survivors include his brother Richard Huber (Norma) of Avon Lake, and sisters Jeanne Wharton (Bob) of Lorain and Mary Wharton of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by two children in infancy, by his father Joseph in 1970 and his mother Elizabeth (nee Bodnar) in 1986.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A Parastas Service will be conducted there at 7:30 p.m. Panachida services will begin Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The Divine Liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 West 40th St., Lorain. The Very Reverend Nicholas R.A. Rachford, JCL, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Louis Paul Proy Chapter # 20 of the Disabled American Veterans.
