Mark S. Pasadyn, 59, Possessed a Keen Sense of Humor

He had courageously confronted a four year battle with ALS approaching each day of his struggle with an amazing attitude.

Born in Oberlin on July 12, 1955, Mark was a 1973 graduate of Keystone High School where he was a member of the varsity football team; he was inducted into the Keystone Sports Hall of Fame in its inaugural year as a team player on the 1971 Wildcat football team that went undefeated as the Inland Conference Champions.

A longtime member of Operating Engineers Local #18 in Cleveland, he worked in highway construction for thirty years. Mark displayed wisdom beyond his years and always believed that one should lead his life by example. Dedicated to his family and displaying a strong loyalty to his friends, Mark’s life was deeply rooted in his faith.

A parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Grafton, he enjoyed simple things and found great pleasure in the outdoors. He liked to hunt, and grow flowers. In addition, he enjoyed grilling and was known for his own special recipe of Mark’s Barbecue Sauce. He also took pride in reminding others that he had planted more than one thousand trees during his lifetime.

Known as a good conversationalist, Mark possessed a keen sense of humor and loved to laugh. He unknowingly enriched every life he touched.

He leaves his wife of thirty-five years Jackie (nee Evansco), his daughter Stephanie Church (Chris) of Orange Village, his son Matthew Pasadyn (Sara) residing in North Olmsted, and granddaughters Lucy Pasadyn and Elizabeth Church. Additional survivors include his mother Joanne Pasadyn (nee Wacker) of Lagrange, his sister Linda Fields (Jeff) also of Lagrange, brothers Dennis Pasadyn (Leandra) of Arkansas, Leon Pasadyn (Jeannine) of Hinckley, his mother-in-law Helen Evansco (nee Coteff) of Lorain, sister-in-law Elaine Ostang (Larry) of Lorain, brother-in-law John M. Evansco (Barbara) of Sheffield Lake, along with many nieces and nephews including God-daughters Laura Fields and Selena Pasadyn.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Raymond Pasadyn in 1990 and by his father-in-law John “Jack” Evansco in 2013.

Visitation will be observed Saturday May 2nd from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 708 Erie Street, Grafton. The Reverend John Seabold, pastor of the parish will officiate. Graveside services for the family will take place later in St. Mary Cemetery, Grafton.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
