Neil R. Meyers, 84, U.S. Army Veteran

Photo of Neil R. Meyers Neil R. Meyers, 84 of Vermilion passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.

Mr. Meyers was born in Lorain on September 11, 1930, the son of the late James F. and Helen V. (nee Hinderer) Meyers.

He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1949 and attended Western Reserve College for 2 years. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lorain. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Meyers was a Prudential Insurance salesman for 32 years; retiring in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty J. (nee Armstrong) Meyers, sons David R. (Deborah) Meyers, Jeffrey F. (Janet) Meyers all of Lorain, grandchildren Eileen Roberts, Laura Mcafoos, Jamie Winebrenner, Thomas Meyers, great granddaughters: Joliana Mcafoos, Adika Mcafoos, sisters Janice King of North Ridgeville, and Linda Donohue of Virginia Beach, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Meyers in 2011.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.

Additionally friends may call Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 9:30 am until funeral services at 10:00 am in the Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park , Amherst Township, Ohio.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rebuilding Fund, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052.
