Billy J. "Bill" Moran, 80, Avid Cleveland Browns fan

Photo of Billy J. Billy J. “Bill” Moran, 80, of Lorain, died Sunday June 21, 2015 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake following a lengthy illness.

He was born December 16, 1934 to Walter and Mattie Moran (nee Richardson) in Cucumber, West Virginia and had been a resident of Lorain for over 40 years.

Billy graduated from Big Creek High School in West Virginia and served with the US Army in the 3rd Infantry Division from 1958-1963.

He retired from Modern Tool & Die in Shiloh where he worked as a machinist. Previously, he had worked for the Timm Springs Co and as an auto mechanic at various other establishments.

Billy was a history buff and an avid sports fan supporting local team particularly the Cleveland Browns. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his grand dog Pogo.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Louise M. Moran (nee Boughton), children Barbara (Wayne) Marshall (nee
Moran) of LaGrange, Brenda (Mark) Towner (nee Moran) of Elyria, Karen Chawansky (nee Fitch) of Sheffield Lake and Kirk (Lynette) Fitch of Lorain, grandchildren Peyton and Taylor Cooksey, Craig (Lisa) Fitch, Andrea (Levant)
Baykut, Rachel Palmer and Brad Sabota, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Helen Pierce of Elyria and Linda Moran of Dunbar, WV and brother Ralph Moran of Woodbridge, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Laurie Moran and Tracey Cooksey, grandson Brian Zelina and infant sister Phyllis Moran.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:15 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Way, Amherst. The Rev. John Retar, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain and the Rev. Larry Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
