Karen M. Wilczak, 53, Enjoyed playing Christian music on her guitar, crocheting and baking.

Photo of Karen M. Wilczak Karen M. Wilczak, 53, of Lorain, died Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

Karen was born in Cleveland and graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain. She attended Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Educational Studies.

Karen worked at the Franklin County Developmental Center in Columbus as a QMRP with the MRDD residence.

She was a member of the Church of St. Peter and the church music ministry where she played the guitar. Karen enjoyed playing Christian music on her guitar, crocheting and baking.

She is survived by her mother Helen Wilczak, brother Ron (Debbie) Wilczak of Topeka, Kansas, niece Amanda Wilczak and nephews Rev. Adam Wilczak, Justin Wilczak and Craig Wilczak, all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her father Bernard Wilczak in 1971.

Karen’s wishes were to have her body donated to the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine for medical research.

A memorial mass will be held Wednesday July 22nd at 11:00 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain.

The Rev. Adam Wilczak, nephew of Karen and the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of the Church of St. Peter, will concelebrate. Karen’s ashes will be buried at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.
