Andrew Hreha III, 79, of Brownhelm Township, died Monday June 29, 2015 while surrounded by his loving family at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a lengthy illness. He would have been 80 on Tuesday June 30th.
Born in Derby, Connecticut, Andrew moved to Lorain when he was three years old and lived here until 1995 moving to Brownhelm Township.
Andrew served with the US Navy Reserves after the Korean War.
He worked as an Inspector at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant retiring in 1997.
Andrew was active in Boys Scouts having served as Commissioner of the Firelands Boy Scouts and as a Boy Scout Leader to many troops.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting especially duck hunting, raising beagle hunting dogs, camping and gardening.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain.
He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Hreha (nee Ferner) whom he would of celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary on July 4th, children Radonna (Galen) Brubaker of Amherst Twp., Michael (Eileen) Hreha of New London, Patricia (John) Tillman of Roswell, GA, Sandra (William) Whitehead of Avon, Timothy Hreha of Carlisle Twp., Dolores (David) Holden of Silver Lake and Ryan (Michelle) Hreha of Brownhelm Twp., 25 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and half brothers Frank (June) Hreha and Daniel (Mary Jane) Hreha. He was preceded in death by his mother Marie Hreha (nee Gregos), father Andrew Hreha, Jr and stepmother Rose Hreha (nee Bialorucki).
The family will receive friends on Sunday July 5th from 3-7 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday July 6th at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain. The Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the American Legion Post #30 and VFW Post #451, both of Lorain, will conduct military honors.
