Richard E. Nadeau, 79, Veteran of the United States Air Force

Photo of Richard E. Nadeau Richard E. Nadeau, age 79, passed away on the afternoon of Monday July 13, 2015 while a resident of the Ohio Veterans Homes. He was born in Old Town, Maine on October 10; 1935 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1957.

Mr. Nadeau was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he fulfilled duty assignments as an Airman 2nd Class with the 3415th Student Squadron during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, and actually drafted his own separation orders upon his discharge from the military.

Richard was employed as a production assistant for the Ford Motor Company; he retired in 1988 following thirty years of service with the automaker. He had been a member of U.A.W. Local 425.

In his free time he liked playing softball and building radio-controlled airplanes. He enjoyed golf and had scored a hole-in-one. He also was a league bowler who once rolled a perfect game. Additional interest included local stock car racing and casino junkets.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years Virginia (nee O’Brien), by daughters Andrea Cuson (James) of Wellington, Lisa Rogers (Brian) of Lorain, and Tracey Strehle (Joseph) of Amherst. He also leaves grandchildren Cynthia Stuart, Aaron Cuson, Jeffrey Gaines, Elizabeth Cuson, along with Jorden and Tayler Strehle. Additional survivors include great grandchildren Tanner, Logan, and James Cuson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Wilma (nee Pyne) Nadeau, by his sister Sandra Karnish, by his brother Robert, and by his great aunt who raised him Susan Pyne.

Visitation will be Saturday July 25, 2015 from 2:00 until 4:00 & 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Military honors conducted by representatives of the United States Air Force will conclude the evening visitation.
