Donald Bell, 88, Awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon

He was born September 13, 1926 in Morgantown, West Virginia and had resided in Lorain most of his life.

Donald served with the US Army Air Force during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic and was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon.

Donald was employed as an auditor for Sentry and served at several companies throughout northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. He also worked as a Senior Engineering Laboratory Technician at Bendix in Elyria and Lear Siegler in Elyria. Prior to that, he worked as an insurance auditor for National Life and a machinist at Thew Shovel in Lorain. Donald also held a license as a private investigator.

He was a member of Advent Episcopal Church in Westlake and the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he served as Flotilla Commander and Division Captain and taught safe boating classes.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years Judith Aldrich-Bell (nee Mason), daughters Linda Minich of Cortland, Karen Adley of Elyria and Kathy Algood of Lorain, sons Gary Bell (Victoria) of Lorain and Jeff Bell (Vickie) of Akron, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, stepchildren

Steven Aldrich (Sue) of Texas and Shari Stanton (Bob) of Washington Township, Michigan and 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte I. Bell (nee Losiewicz) in 1992 and parents Chester Russell Bell and Lavina Bell (nee Bolyard).

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of funeral services at 10:30 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Richard Lutz will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
