Angela Mendez, 75, Enjoyed Spending Time with Family and Friends

She was born October 3, 1940 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico and lived in Lorain most of her life.
Angela worked at Lorain Towel, Gel-Pak, and Goodwill Industries. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, where she was involved with the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
Angela is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Alejandro Mendez; daughters Mirta Mendak (Robert), Myrna Williams (Jason); grandchildren Stephen Mendak, Matthew Mendak, and Jada Williams; brothers Primo Ortiz (Gloria), Angel Ortiz (Joni) of Oberlin, Jessie Ortiz (Sandy) of Indiana; sister Dolores Marrero (Jose) of Florida.
Angela was preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Emilia Ortiz and by her sister Dominga Ayala (Ramon).
Her family will receive friends Sunday, January 31 from 2 to 6 P.M. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 E. 31st Street, Lorain. Additional viewing will be held on Monday, February 1 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
