Mary Ann Logar, 82, Enjoyed Crafts and Baking

Photo of Mary Ann Logar Mary Ann Logar, (nee Galanic), age 82, of Lorain, passed away at her residence on the evening of Thursday February 4, 2016.

Born on June 2, 1933, she was a life-long resident of Lorain.

Mary Ann was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1951-B. She was employed as a lunch room monitor at Homewood Elementary School for eighteen years retiring in 1993. She had also been formerly employed by the S.S. Kresge Company, the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, and the Evergreen Food Market.

Mrs. Logar was currently a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township. She was a former parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Lorain where she was a member of the Adult Choir, the Mother’s Club, and the church cleaning crew.

She was also a member of the Southview Band Boosters for eleven years serving as membership chairman, treasurer, and chaperone on away games and trips. She was also a long-time member of KSKJ Immaculate Conception Lodge # 101.

In her younger days she enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and crocheting. Additional interests included counted cross stitch. baking and decorating special occasion cakes. Mary Ann also served as the coordinator of the Logar Family reunions and was the creator of The Logar Family Book which Chronicled the eight descendents of Jacob and Frances Logar.

She is survived by her children Michael of La Grange, Kentucky, Steven of Lorain, Paul of La Grange, Georgia, Kathryn Raven of Shaker Heights, Mark (Terri) of Lorain, and Vickie (Michael) Jenkins of Elyria. She also leaves five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband James “Tom” Logar in 2013, by her parents Dominik and Amalia (nee Pogadi) Galanic, by brothers Nicholas, Dominic, and Peter Galanic, and by her sister Amalia “Nellie” McNoskey.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria. Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of the parish will serve as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
