Manuela Moralez, 98, Liked to Sew and Crochet

Photo of Manuela Moralez Manuela Moralez (née Trevino), 98, of Elyria, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 in her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 4, 1917 in Poth, Texas. Her family were farm workers in Minnesota before coming to Lorain in 1942. She made Elyria her home in 1960.

Manuela and her husband Jose owned and operated El Toro Carry Out restaurant in Lorain. Manuela continued in food service by receiving her Food Service Certificate. She was a supervisor for Meals on Wheels, Lorain and the kitchen of the Americana Inn, Elyria. Manuela was an active member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She liked to sew, crochet, garden and preserve her fruit and vegetables. She enjoyed fiestas and traveling the country.

She will be deeply missed by her sons Jesse (Terry) Moralez of Bentonville, Arkansas, Pablo (Elvira) and David Moralez both of Lorain, Lupe (Martina) Moralez of Colorado Springs, Joey (Debbie) Moralez, Jr. of Vermilion and Alex Moralez of Colorado; daughters Margarita Whatley and Jozie Moralez both of Elyria, Manuela Casteel of Lorain, Anita (Daniel) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas and Mary Lou Gordon of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Manuela was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years José Moralez in 2004; parents Callatano and Maria (née Valle) Trevino; son Pablito Moralez; daughter Margarita Moralez; brother José Maria and Raymond Trevino and a sister Jessie Peña.

Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 24 at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain from 8:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. Reverend Willian A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
