Dorothy S. Karpinski, 91, Enjoyed Hosting Holidays with Family
Dorothy S. Karpinski (nee Mahnic), 91, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 20, 2016.
She was born November 26, 1924 and lived all of her life in Lorain.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years Donald W. Karpinski; her two dedicated sons and daughters-in-law Dr. Donald J. Karpinski (Marlene) and David A. Karpinski (Janet); five grandchildren: Kelly, Andrea, Aryn, Kyle and Allison and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Louise Mahnic (nee Orell), sister Anne DeLillo and brother Frank Mahnic.
Dorothy retired from the city of Lorain as the Secretary of the Air Pollution Control. During her life, she enjoyed crafts of all kinds, specifically knitting, quilting and crocheting. She was especially skilled in her stained glass-making, which she lovingly gifted to all her family members. Her ultimate joys were celebrating and hosting holidays with family especially on Christmas and Easter with her grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion.
The family will receive friends Thursday August 25th from 9:30 am until 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am in the church with The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity BVM Catholic Church and the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish, concelebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
