Russell Jerald LeMasters, 80, U.S. Army Veteran
Russell Jerald LeMasters, 80 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday September 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family, while under the care of New Life Hospice.
He was born on January 24, 1936 in Mannington West Virginia and moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1940. He graduated from Lorain High School.
He served in the Military-The US Army 1959-1961 in Fort Hood Texas and Killeen, Texas. He achieved SP4 rank and also achieved Marksman (M-1 Rifle), and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion.
Russell work at US Steal, Fruehauf Trailer, Cleveland Aircraft, Span Master, Nordson, American Ship, Burns Security and Industrial Security. He retired at age 65.
He has been a member of Christian Heritage Church for the past 11 years and a prior member of Broadway Assembly Church for many years. Over the years he has served as a Board Member, Youth leader, and Sunday School Teacher of which he enjoy thoroughly.
Russell enjoyed watching sports and supporting the Cleveland teams, woodworking, camping, traveling, visiting Amish Country, gardening, reading, nurturing a wide variety of animals, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Phyllis Loretta LeMasters (nee Murphy), his children Charles LeMasters (Carol) of Georgia, Pamela Cotton (Kenny) of Georgia, Michele Willoughby (Rob) of Lorain, and Blaine LeMasters (Audrey) of Lorain. Grandchildren Jaysen, Justin, Leah, Andrew, Rachel, Breanne, Robert II, Alicia, Avril, Matthew and Heather. Great Grandchildren Silas, Jonas, Ryleigh, Owen, Addalynn and Robert III. Siblings John LeMasters, Raymond LeMasters, Patricia Southam (Tom) and James LeMasters (Darlene) and beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Odcar and Ruth LeMasters of Lorain. Sister Twilla LeMasters and beloved sister-in- law Judith LeMasters.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7, 4 to 8 PM and on Thursday 10 until the funeral service which will begin at 11 AM. Visitations and the funeral service will be held at Christian Heritage Church, 36465 Chester Road, Avon, Ohio 44011. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Elise Pitts of Christian Heritage and the eulogy will be presented by Pastor Matt Jones of Broadway Assembly. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy chapter 20 will conduct Military Honors.
The family would like memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Christian Heritage Church or New Life Hospice.
