Bruce "Flip" Nelson, 73, Avid Sports Fan

He was born July 28, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland and had resided in Lorain since 1966.
Flip graduated from Northwestern High School in New Tripoli, Pennsylvania in 1960. He served with the US Air Force from 1961-1965 as an A2C stationed in England.
He worked at Bendix in Elyria as a Senior Analyst & Computer Programmer for 30 years retiring in 1998.
Flip was a member of AMVETS Post #47 in Lorain, Knights of Columbus Chapter #637 in Lorain, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1442 in Amherst, PLAV # 38 of Lorain and the Firelands Dart Club. He enjoyed darts and golf and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his daughter Lisa Hobart (Bart) of Amherst; grandchildren: Anthony Nelson (Peggy), BreAnn Jackson (fiancé Steve Stropko), Heather Nelson, Lindsey Copeland (Chris) and Abbey Hobart and great granddaughter Amelia Hobart. He was preceded in death by his wife Angela Nelson (nee Foley) in 2004, son Steve Nelson in 2005 and parents Henry C. & Marian Nelson (nee Leighton).
The family will receive friends Wednesday October 12th from 5-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 13th at 10:00 am in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
