Mila Zunich, 91, Will be Dearly Missed

Mila “Mary” Zunich, (nee Zivkovich), age 91, of Amherst, passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday October 12, 2016.

She was born in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania on September 6, 1925 and was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School. Mary moved to Ohio in 1954.

She was formerly employed as a sales associate for Avon Products. Mrs. Zunich was an extremely active member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain where she sang in the choir and was a member of both the Kolo and Mother’s Club; she had also taught Sunday school there for twenty-five years. In addition, she was a member of St. George Lodge # 66 as well as the S.S. Njegos Choir of Parma.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-four years Nick Zunich, Sr., son Nick Zunich, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Pepper Pike, and daughters Janice Katic (Milan) of Schererville, Indiana and Cynthia Zunich of Amherst. She also leaves three grandchildren, and her sister Mildred Blagovich of McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Nikola and Sava (nee Kosich) Zivkovich, by sisters Judy Jeremias and Millie Fox, and by brothers Michael, Lawrence, & Nikola Zivkovich.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Pomen services will be conducted there at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with Reverend Sinisa Hrvacevic officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
