Silvestre Loera Castillo, 76, Will be Dearly Missed

Photo of Silvestre Loera Castillo Silvestre Loera Castillo, 76, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away Friday October 14, 2016 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was born December 31, 1939 in San Ignacio, Villa Hildalgo, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the oldest of 8 brothers and 2 sisters. He had been a resident of Weslaco, Texas since 2001 moving from Lorain, Ohio where he had resided from 1960 to 2001.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lorain and Weslaco, Texas since 1971.

Mr. Loera retired from USS Kobe Steel in Lorain after 31 years and entered into full time ministry in Weslaco, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Betty Loera; sons Silvestre “Tito” Loera, Jr., Ricardo “Rick” Loera, Anthony Bailey, Robert Lee Loera, Nathaniel Loera; daughter, Celina Loera Vasquez; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers: Marcos, Herminio, Felix, Eleno & Jose Luis Loera Castillo and sister Olga Loera Castillo. He was preceded in death by his parents Silvestre Loera Garcia and Tranquilina Castillo Alanis; brothers Emigdio & Joaquin Loera Castillo; sister Cesaria (Maria) Loera Castillo.

The family will receive friends Saturday October 29, 2016 from 1 pm – 2 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Home, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm immediately followed by a reception at the funeral home. Brother Vincent Rogers will officiate.
