Anita A. Gerace, 87, Her Family Was Her Life
Anita A. Gerace (nee Matuszak), 87, of Lorain, died Thursday November 3, 2016 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain after a short illness.
She was born August 20, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Anita worked as a cashier at Klein’s Department Store and Januzzi Shoes before retiring.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and dancing. Anita had a love for big band music as her husband Leonard played trumpet in the Harry James Band. Her family was her life.
She is survived by her children: Laurel Dunford, with whom she made her home in Lorain, Cheryle Britton (Chris) of Avon, Len Gerace (Darla) of Lorain and Mark Gerace (Carmela) of St. Augustine, Florida; 8 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Gerace in 1982, parents Leo & Helen Matuszak (nee Molick), son-in-law Michael Dunford, sister Carol Maholic-Possy, brother Leland Matuszak and niece Nancy Lucey.
The family will receive friends Sunday November 6th from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Private family funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
