Mary Walters, 88, Was a Social Butterfly

Photo of Mary Walters Mary Walters (nee Russo), 88, of Valley City, formerly of Lorain, passed away at her home in the care of the Hospice of the Western Reserve following a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Mrs. Walters was born in Lorain on January 10, 1928, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Nunzia (nee Bucca) Russo.

She worked in the offices at US Steel in Lorain, called for substitute teachers for the Lorain City Schools and worked for Mckee Architectural Company.

Mrs. Walters enjoyed bowling, sewing, cooking, gardening, shopping, casino gambling and she was a social butterfly. She was a avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.

She was a member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ in Lorain and was a Sunday School nursery teacher.

Mrs. Walters graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1946-A and married her high school sweetheart Richard C. Walters. They had been married for 66 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2013, sister Kate (Andy) Kolaczko, brothers Al (Kay) Russo, Santo Russo and Joseph Russo.

She will be missed by her son, Bill (Kathy) Walters of North Ridgeville, daughter Wendy (Tom) Casada of Valley City, daughter Linda (Len) Marsico of Medina, son John (Lynne) Walters of Amherst, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 4-8 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 11:00 am in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
