Connie S. Jaykel, 68, Enjoyed Spending Time with Grandchildren

Photo of Connie S. Jaykel Connie S. Jaykel (nee Bickmeier), 68, of Lorain, died Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake after a long battle with cancer.

She was born April 3, 1948 in Flushing, Ohio and had lived in the Lorain area most of her life.

Connie worked as a salesperson at various Levin Furniture stores throughout the area and was one of their top salespersons. She was passionate about her work and had owned several businesses and properties throughout the area in addition to being a Real Estate Agent.

She was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, casino gambling, shopping, garage sales and decorating her home. She loved the water and going to the Lake Erie Islands and Lakeview Park.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years Edward Jaykel; children: Bill Dobis (Sharon) of Sellersburg, Indiana, Denise Velez (Ted) of Lorain and Heather Webb (Kevin) of Sharpsburg, Georgia; grandchildren: Deana Velez, Danyele Velez and Caroline Webb; 3 great grandchildren; mother Dolores Bickmeier (nee Hessler); sister Linda Knick, brother Bernie Bickmeier and sisters Marsha Mathna and Dora Brewer, all of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her father Bernard Bickmeier.

The family will receive friends Sunday December 4th from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday December 5th at 10:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter Parish, 3501 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
