Marilyn J. Ford, 67, Enjoyed Spending Time with Grandchildren

Marilyn J. Ford, 67, of Lorain, died Friday December 2, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic Fairview after a brief illness.

She was born March 27, 1949 in Elyria and had been a lifelong Lorain County resident.

Marilyn graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1967. She worked as a pharmacy assistant at Revco, worked at Elyria City department store and was a teacher’s aide for Lorain City Schools.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain where she volunteered in the food pantry and helped start the hot meal program that is offered before the food pantry opens. Marilyn served as a Girl Scout troop leader and camp director and was Key Club Advisor in the Lorain City Schools. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and camping.

She is survived by her daughters Randi Wagner (Bill) of Cleveland and Rikki Ford-Cavins (Robert) of Bedford Heights; grandchildren: Finley, Foster, Avah & Loghan; brother Larry Ford (Alicia) of Brighton; sister Peggy Bakata (Danny) of South Amherst; brother-in-law Blaine Lacock of Sullivan; sister-in-law Jackie Vaught of Ashland and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her companion of 25 years Eugene Oeder in 1998, parents David and Martha Ford (nee Foster), sisters Nancy Lacock and Donna Buri and her husband Michael Buri and brother Donald Ford.

No visitation hours will be held. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday December 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
