Guadalupe Rodriguez Garcia, 96, Loving Homemaker and Mother

Photo of Guadalupe Rodriguez Garcia Guadalupe Rodriguez Garcia, 96, of Lorain, passed away peacefully in home surrounded by her family on Monday, December 12, 2016.

She was born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico on December 20, 1919. Lupe came to Lorain in 1949. She was a loving homemaker and mother. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she sang in the church choir. Lupe was known for her delicious meals, and loved to play BINGO.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Daniel Garcia; Lovingly remembered by her sons, Edwin (Rebecca) Garcia and Daniel Garcia Jr. both of Lorain; her daughters, Julia (Salvador “Cano”) Ortiz of Lorain and Myrna Rodriguez of New Haven, Connecticut; sister Mercedes Burgos of Villa Carolina, Puerto Rico and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lupe was preceded by death by her parents Inocencio Garcia and Maria Rodriguez, 7 siblings, and a grandson Derek M. Garcia in 1993.

Her family will receive friends Thursday, December 15 from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Friday from 8:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM. The Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
