Irene E. Davis, 99, Enjoyed Crafts, Ceramics and Crocheting
Irene E. Davis (nee Arty), 99, of Lorain, died Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Abbewood Retirement Center in Elyria after a lengthy illness.
She was born November 14, 1917 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Irene was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain where she served as treasurer of the former church credit union and was a member of the Marian Guild, Paduan Travelers and Senior Sociables. She was a member of the Salvation Army Keenagers and enjoyed crafts, ceramics and crocheting.
She is survived by her children: Charles P. Davis, Jr of Hillsboro Beach, Florida, Robert Davis (Judy) of Leesburg, Virginia, Gregory Davis (Annette) of Dayton, Sharon Kohler (Ken) of Elyria and Jennifer Edwards (Rick) of Oberlin; grandchildren: Brian Kohler (Beth), Craig Kohler (Maggie), Christopher Davis (Lora), Daniel Davis (Suzanne) and Jeffrey Edwards; great grandchildren: Logan Edwards and Alice Ann Davis; sister Alice Zemanek of Lorain and brother-in- law Eugene Davis of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chic” Davis in 1986, parents John and Margaret Arty (nee Takacs), brother John Arty, sister Margaret Kovach and an infant sister.
The family will receive friends Friday December 23 rd from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo- Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Richard A. Gonser will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
