Helen A. Cochran, 91, Accomplished Seamstress

Helen A. Cochran, (nee Jakobowski), age 91, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday December 18, 2016.

Born in Lorain on April 28, 1925 Helen was a graduate of Lorain High School and a life-long resident of the city.

A parishioner of St. Peter Parish, she had previously been employed as a cafeteria worker for the Lorain City Schools and had worked at Lorain High School for more than ten years.

She was an accomplished seamstress who also enjoyed reading with a special interest in romance novels and current events. In addition, she enjoyed crafting as well as spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Genie Wachholz of Amherst, and sons Gregory (Laura) Cochran of Richfield, Ohio and Gary Cochran of Orlando, Florida. She also leaves three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and her brother Walter Jakobowski residing in Maryland.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband George J. Cochran in 2014, son George J. Cochran, II in infancy, daughter Carol Jean Smith, twin daughters Patricia and Mary Cochran in infancy, granddaughter Stacey Harrington, father George Jakobowski, and mother Kathryn Jakobowski (nee Adamiszak).

Graveside services for the family will take place in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
