Nancy S. Gordon, 55, Known for Her Pleasant Disposition

Photo of Nancy S. Gordon Nancy S. Gordon, (nee Dovala), age 55, of Amherst Township, passed away at her residence on the afternoon of Wednesday December 21st, 2016 following a courageous five month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Born in Lorain on March 9, 1961, she was a 1979 graduate of Admiral King School; she went on to attend Lorain County Community College. Nancy had been a resident of Amherst Township for the past sixteen years following her return to Ohio from a brief residency in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

She had been employed as a customer service representative for Discount Drug Mart and was a familiar smiling face at the Colorado Avenue Store in Lorain for more than ten years.

Known for her pleasant disposition, Nancy was undaunted by the numerous challenges that confronted her throughout her life and was extremely proud to have successfully raised her only child as a single parent.

In her free time she enjoyed collecting angels; she had also assembled an impressive collection of thimbles which were presented to her as souvenirs documenting her family members’ travels.

Nancy is survived by her son Christopher of Amherst and by her step-mother Mary Dovala (nee Rath) of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her mother Lois Dovala (nee Waters), her father George Dovala, her paternal grandparents George and Susan Dovala, and her maternal grandparents Raymond and Stella Waters.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday January 8, 2017 in Christ Lutheran Church – 4501 Clinton Avenue in Lorain. Reverend Laurie Miller, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will take place later in Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Nancy’s family.
