Shirley Anne Dickson, 92, Enjoyed Singing in the Church Choir

Photo of Shirley Anne Dickson It is with great sadness for ourselves and great joy for Heaven that we announce Shirley Anne Dickson, age 92, left this earth to meet her Lord, and was reunited with her husband Don, on December 24th after a lengthy illness.

Shirley was born on April 14, 1924 in Lorain to Grace and Alfie Young. She was a lifelong resident until moving to Wesleyan Village in 2009.

Shirley graduated from Lorain High School in 1942 B, and married Don in 1945. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church for over 80 years and served as Church Secretary for over 20 years.

Shirley enjoyed singing in the church choir, bowling, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family.
Shirley was a wonderful, loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother; always smiling and so pleasant to everyone she met. She will live with us in our memories forever.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Don, in 2012, son David in 1986, sister Corinne Cook, and brother George Young. She is survived by her son Jeff (Mary) Dickson of Highland, MI, daughter Beth (Ken) Repeta of Canton, grandchildren who were the joy of her life, Stacy Szuhy (Mike), Jay (Heather) Dickson, and Molly Dickson. She was blessed with two great-granddaughters, Maleia and Jorie Dickson.

The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to all the loving dedicated nurses and caregivers at Wesleyan Village, New Life Hospice, and Dr. Reddy, and Wanda.

Friends may call Thursday December 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM till time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 2201 Reid Ave., Lorain. Pastor Karen Hollingsworth will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations forwarded to Faith United Methodist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association; alz.org.
