Russell E. Sargent, 68, U.S. Air Force Veteran
Russell E. "Sarge" Sargent, 68, of Lorain passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, unexpectedly at his home.
Mr. Sargent was born in Lorain on April 20, 1948, the son of the late Robert J. and Mary Jane (nee Baxter) Sargent. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in the Class of 1966 and then studied in Pensacola, Florida receiving his bachelor's degree in accounting.
He served in the US Air Force earning the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the AFM900-3, twice.
Mr. Sargent was an accountant and for many years held management positions at Solonway Lanes in Solon and Cloverleaf Bowling Center in Independence . He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He loved baseball, and was a well known left handed pitching coach. He also taught bowling at the lanes which he managed.
Mr. Sargent is survived by his son Shane, with whom he made his home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley A. (nee Moore) Sargent.
