Mary M. Bailey, 71, Enjoyed Reading

Photo of Mary M. Bailey Mary M. Bailey, (nee Pastor), age 71, of Lorain, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday January 21st, 2017 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Cleveland on February 7, 1945, Mary was a 1963 graduate of Brookside High School and went on to attend the St. Joseph Hospital School of Practical Nursing.

She spent the majority of her professional nursing career at St. John West Shore Medical Center. Most recently, she had served as a home health aid for Interim Home Health.

A former parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, Mary was currently attending St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir as well as a volunteer at the church’s adoration chapel.

A member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Mary enjoyed reading in her free time and possessed a special interest in romance novels. Additional interests included gospel music, the oldies, and the songs of Elvis Presley.

Mary is survived by her husband of fifty years Darrel A. Bailey, her son Ken (Jodi) Bailey of Lorain, and daughters Moe Bailey of Augusta, Georgia, Colleen Fox of Lagrange, Ohio and Michelle (Shannon) Howes of Lewis Center, Ohio. She also leaves her grandchildren Trent and Hayden Fox, Hannah, Emma, and Jack Bailey, Declan and Aislinn Howes, and her brother Robert (Donna) Pastor of Lorain.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Paul J. and Margaret M. (nee Sullivan) Pastor.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 East Erie Avenue. The Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
