Daisy Matic, 90, Enjoyed Dancing & Travel

Photo of Daisy Matic Daisy “Dunny” Matic, (nee Vukich), age 90, of Lorain, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday January 26, 2017 while a patient at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Born in Canton, Ohio on April 30, 1926, Dunny had been a resident of Lorain since 1950.

A graduate of Canton McKinley High School, she had formerly been employed as an administrative assistant for both the Timken Roller Bearing Company and Hercules Industries in Stark County.

Mrs. Matic was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain and was also a member of the Kolo there. In addition, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries of both Lake Erie Moose Lodge # 552 and Amvets Post # 47.

In her free time she enjoyed all forms of music, as well as dancing and travel.

Survivors include her daughter Denise D’Agnese of Sheffield Township, and grandchildren Kelli and Peter D’Agnese both of Sheffield Township along with Jennifer and Michelle Matic both residing in Pacifica, California. In addition, Dunny leaves eight great grandchildren, along with her daughter-in-law Marjory Matic also of Pacifica.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph S. Matic in 1994, son Joseph P. Matic in 2007, parents Peter and Stoja (Stella) Vukich, sisters Mildred V. Zupkovich in 2006, and Stella Mogus in 2014, and brother George Vukich in 2000.

Friends may call Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Pomen service will be conducted there at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. George Serbian Orthodox Church - 3335 Grove Avenue. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
