Raymond Joseph Baca, Sr., 71, Avid Bowler

Born November 30, 1945 in Alba Adriatica, Italy to Orazio and Iolanda Nepa (Baca), he immigrated to the United States when he was 8 years old. He lived in Lorain since 1977 and retired from the US Steel accounting department. An avid bowler, Ray was a member of one of Rebman’s Men’s Leagues for 25+ years.
He graduated from Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania in 1962 and attended LaSalle College. Shortly after graduating from LaSalle, Ray entered the Army and served from 1968-1970.
He married Roxann Mitchell on May 27, 1967 in Lorain, Ohio. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2013.
He is survived by his two children; one son, Raymond Baca Jr. of Lorain, Ohio and one daughter, Renee Baca of Manassas Virginia; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Boyer) of Lorain, Ohio, Alexis Baca, daughter of Ray Baca Jr., and Morgan Miller, daughter of Renee Baca.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruno Baca.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday February 9, 2017 beginning with prayers at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by Mass at 10:00 am at Nativity B.V.M. Parish, Lorain. Fr. Robert Glepko will officiate. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, OH. Military honors will be conducted the D.A.V. Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20.
