Juan B. Torres, Sr., 88, Enjoyed Sports
Juan B. Torres, Sr., 88 years of age and a resident of Lares, Puerto Rico, went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 24, 1928, in Lares, Puerto Rico and moved to Lorain where he met and married the love of his life, Sylvia.
Juan enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Panama. After his discharge from the Army Juan was employed by Ford Motor Company in Brook Park, Ohio, retiring in 1979. After retirement Juan returned to Lares, Puerto Rico where he enjoyed working on his farm taking care of his orange and plantain trees. He kept up with all the Cleveland sports teams and enjoyed talking sports with family and friends.
Juan is survived by his children, Jose (Milly) Torres, Diana (Eugene) Serrano, Orlando (Cindi) Torres, Edwardo (Margie) Torres, Juan (Lizette) Torres, Jr. and Abigail Torres all of Lorain and Eddie (Donna) Torres of Tacoma, Washington, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and sister Celia Brown of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents Santiago Torres Gomez and Estefania Aramburu Torres, wife Sylvia Torres (nee Leon), brothers Miguel Torres, Luis Torres and Eladio Torres.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway Ave., Lorain, Ohio, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the D.A.V.
