Eleanor "June" Antus, 82, Enjoyed Babysitting Her Grandchildren

Photo of Eleanor Eleanor “June” Antus (nee McBride), 82, of Lorain, died Saturday March 4, 2017 at Kingston of Vermilion after a lengthy illness.

She was born June 5, 1934 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain most of her life.

June worked at National Pharmacy, Tony’s Meats, Baker’s Meats, Leavit Westside Market and Fligner’s Market before retiring.

June was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where she made baked goods for bingo, served as a school room mother and was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, collecting ceramic birds, sewing, crocheting, gardening and baking. She bowled with her daughters at Rebman Recreation.

She is survived by her children: Bernie Deidrick (Don) of Lorain, Richard Antus (Liz Cupp) of Elyria, Larry Antus (Lena Sosebee) of Lorain and Debbie Antus Carlson (Burt) of Lexington, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers: Andrew McBride of California and Charles McBride (Pam) of Cummings, Georgia; sister-in-law Agnes McBride of Charleroi, Pennsylvania; niece Thelma Antus of Edwardsburg, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Antus in 2007, daughter Barbara Burger in 2002, granddaughter Krystle Antus in 2010, parents Andrew & Ruth McBride (nee Crawford), twin sisters Carolyn Dziurzynski and Carol Ann Weakland; brother Michael Raymond McBride and nephew Joseph Edward Antus.

The family will receive friends Friday March 10th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain where the St. Vincent Altar & Rosary Society will recite the rosary Friday at 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 11th at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd, Elyria Township. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
