She was born January 4, 1932 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1956
Carmen was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She enjoyed raising her family, cooking, gardening and trips to the flea market, Carmen’s door was always open to needy families and the neighborhood kids, they called her Mom.
Carmen will be deeply missed by her daughters Olga (Gene) Ward and Joann (Ignacio) both of Lorain; Auria (Edwin) Correa of Cape Coral, Florida and Maria (Jose) of Avon; sons William (Kathy) Otero, Luis (Sharon) Otero, Felix Otero Jr., Danny (Yvette) Otero, Rafael Otero and Moises (Shannon) all of Lorain and Ricardo (Virginia) Otero of Goodyear, Arizona; brother Moises (Feliciana) Reyes of Egg Harbor, New Jersey; son in law Efrain Montijo of Lorain; 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Felix Otero Deliz in 1998; daughter Felicita Montijo in 2008; parents Luis Reyes and Gomercinda (née Negron) Reyes; sister Benita Reyes and brothers Luis Reyes Elmen Reyes and David Reyes.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, April 2 from 3 to 7 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Friends may also call Monday from 8:30 until time of Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will be celebrant. Her burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
