Effie E. Hardie, 77, Enjoyed Crafts

Photo of Effie E. Hardie Effie E. “Tiny” Hardie, age 77, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at Celebration Hospital in Celebration, Florida on Friday April 14, 2017.

Born in Portsmouth, Ohio on January 14, 1940, Tiny had been a resident of Lorain County for the majority of her life.

She had been employed as a sales associate for Pat Catan’s for twenty-five years prior to her retirement. She had also formerly been employed as an administrative assistant at the Lorain Roofing Company for a period of ten years.

Mrs. Hardie had been an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain since the age of nine; she was heavily involved in a multitude of activities within the church including the Faith Family Gathering Group.

She was also a member of the Singing Seniors of Lorain as well as the Ladies Auxiliary of Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442. In her free time she enjoyed all forms of crafts.

Tiny is survived by her sons Jeff (Barbara) of Kissimmee, Florida and Mark (Karen) of Amherst. In addition, she leaves eighteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and her longtime friend Judy Szefcyk of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mark Hardie in 1986, son Randy Hardie in 1999, father Tracy Sparks in 1975, mother Hazel Sparks (nee Kuhn) in 2000, brother Donald Sparks in 2015 and granddaughters Amanda Mae and Miranda Lee.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 noon in Faith United Methodist Church – 2201 Reid Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Karen Hollingsworth, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park – Amherst Township.
