Elba Iris Cruz, 78, Enjoyed Gardening and Cooking
Elba Iris Cruz (née Machado), 78, of Lorain, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 on Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain following a brief illness.
Elba was born July 13, 1938 in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. Elba came to Lorain in 1952. She retired from Ford Brookpark Engine Plant No. 1. She worked there for over 13 years. She enjoyed her gardens, especially her roses. She was an excellent cook.
She will be loved and dearly missed by her daughters Nancy Molina, Carmen Cruz and Joan Cato Cruz all of Lorain; sons Luis F. “Big Lou” Cruz of Vermilion, Arturo “Tito” Cruz and Roberto “Bobby” (Sandra Rivera) Cruz both of Lorain; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Elba was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Dolores (née Vazquez) Machado and a brother Millaño Vazquez Machado.
Her family will receive friends Monday, April 24 from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Her funeral service will be there Tuesday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Deacon, Tony DeGracia of Sacred Heart Chapel will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
