Carmen Belen Vazquez, 62, Enjoyed Dancing and Yoga

She was born May 9, 1954 in Lorain to Leonides and Carmen M. Vazquez. Carmen graduated from Admiral King High School in 1973 and received her Bachelor Degree from Baker College in 2006.
Carmen lived in Southeast Michigan for 23 years until 2014. She lived in Cleveland before moving to Florence.
She retired as a Welder Repair from the Ford Woodhaven Stamping Plant in Woodhaven, Michigan. Carmen worked for Ford for 32 Years. She was an active member of United Auto Workers Local 387, belonging to the Ford and UAW Education Committee and the Ford Women’s Committee. Carmen enjoyed dancing, yoga, walking with her grandchildren, riding her bike, swimming and fine dining. Carmen also wrote poetry and published a piece close to her heart titled Within These Walls." Finding meaning, finding love, and maybe finding freedom. Is the quest that we may lose sight of, within our exasperated toil. To have and to give those around us, a life of their own.
She will be dearly missed by her sons Joe Rivera with whom she made her home and Rob Vazquez of Washington, D.C.; her father of Las Vegas Nevada; brothers Vidal Vazquez of Clearwater, Florida and Hermes Vazquez of Las Vegas; grandchildren Indalecio Santiago and Shayla Rivera; a niece and 3 nephews; and the Matos family with whom she considered her brothers and sisters.
Carmen was preceded in death by her mother Carmen M. Vazquez.
Her family will receive friends Tuesday, May 9 (Carmen’s Birthday) from 2 PM until 5:30 PM Celebration of Life in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1883 East 31st Street, South Lorain.
