Elmer M. Ehasz, Sr., 87, U.S. Air Force Veteran

Photo of Elmer M. Ehasz, Sr. Elmer M. Ehasz, Sr., 87, of Lorain, passed away, May, 6, 2017 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 2, 1930 in Lorain. Elmer retired as an Electrician at US Steel in 1987. He worked there for 37 Years. Elmer served in the U. S. Airforce as a Crew Chief of C-46 aircraft in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War in the occupation of Japan.

Elmer was an active member of Hungarian Reformed Church of God, Lorain. He served on the church Consistory board, a Church Elder and a part of the Kitchen Crew. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104 Lorain and a Life Member of the VFW 1079 in Elyria. Elmer enjoyed fishing, bowling and hunting.

He will be dearly missed by his sons Elmer M. (Christine) Ehasz, Jr of South Amherst, Kenneth J. (Lorraine) Ehasz of Lorain, Michael A. (Bambi) Ehasz of Elyria and Martin S. (Michelle) Ehasz of Canton, Michigan; daughter Linda (Dale) Scott of Plainfield; former wife and companion Marianne (née Palagyi) Ehasz of Lorain; sisters Lilian Risner and Geraldine Kent both of Lorain; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Grace (née Kulchar) Ehasz and a granddaughter Michelle.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, May 10 from 5 to 7 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home 1783 E. 31 Street, South Lorain, also Thursday, May 11 from 10 AM until time of his funeral service at 11 AM in Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 East 31st Street, Lorain. Rev. Peter Toth, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Where Military Honors will be conducted.

His family suggests memorial contributions to Hungarian Reformed Church, 1691 East 31st St., Lorain OH 44055.
