Dorothy G. Super, 92, Enjoyed Flower and Vegetable Gardening

Photo of Dorothy G. Super Dorothy G. Super (nee Janik), age 92, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at her residence on the evening of Tuesday May 9th, 2017.

Dorothy was born in Elyria on March 7, 1925 and was a graduate of Clearview High School; she had been a resident of Lorain County for the majority of her life.

She had been employed as a supervisor for the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority; Dorothy retired in 1987 following a career that spanned seventeen years with the agency.

A parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, she was also a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. In addition, she served as a volunteer with a host of organizations including the American Cancer Society, Catholic Charities of Lorain, Cleveland C.Y.O., and the American Red Cross.

Dorothy was a devotee of polka music and enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening in her free time. Additional interests included babysitting for her grandchildren, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking with a special focus on Hungarian cuisine.

Survivors include her sons Michael Super (Karen) of Grafton, and Marton Super of Lorain, and daughter Nancy McClear (Donald) of Avon. She also leaves grandchildren Brigid, Kyle, Kaitlyn, and Kathleen, great-grandson Patrick, and brother Ernest Janik residing in Elyria.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Marton and Gizella (nee Hoszereti) Janik, daughter Carol Patton, sisters Stella Boris, Mary Betzel, and Anna Dice, along with brothers Steven and Albert Janik.

Please join her family for the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 13th in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic – 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria Township. Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family encourages memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel.
