Helen Ilcisko, 89, Enjoyed Spending Time with Grandchildren

She was born May 3, 1928 in Lorain and had resided in Amherst Township since 1963 moving from Lorain.

Helen worked as a clerk typist at National Tube Company in Lorain.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain where she participated in church Bible studies, served as a cantor and was a member of the Rosary Society.

Helen enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing, quilting and gardening.

She is survived by her children: David Ilcisko (Debbie) of Amherst Township, Daniel Ilcisko of Vermilion, Kathy Sponseller (Ralph) of Lagrange, Kentucky and Laurie Bainbridge (Chuck) of Pleasureville, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Joseph Ilcisko in 2001; daughter Connie Butler; parents John & Mary Urban (nee Marczi); one granddaughter; sisters Mary Demyan and Anne Gargasz and brother John Urban.

The family will receive friends Sunday May 14th from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The St. Nicholas Rosary Society will recite the rosary Sunday at 5:00 pm followed by the Parastas Service at 5:30 pm. Panachida Services will be held Monday May 15th at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, 2711 W. 40th St – Lorain. The Very Rev. Nicholas Rachford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
