Margaret E. Saylor, 89, Enjoyed Traveling

She was born July 5, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York and had resided in the Sheffield Township and Lorain areas most of her life.
Margaret graduated from Lorain High School with the 1945 B Class where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
She worked at Central Trust as Assistant Vice President of Consumer Loans for 30 years retiring in 1990. Afterward, she worked as a Hostess at Hanko’s Gin Mill Restaurant for 20 years.
Margaret was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township. She was a member of the Amherst Business & Professional Women’s Club and the Zonta Club of Lorain. She was active in many bank functions and receive numerous Women of Achievement Awards.
Margaret enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Europe, Mexico & Canada. While visiting Poland, she helped her sister Pat by being a teaching assistant as they taught a two-week English course to students ranging from grades 1 thru 12. She also enjoyed gardening and wildlife and feeding the birds and squirrels. Margaret also made Christmas stockings for all the younger members of her family.
She is survived by her daughter Andrea M. Schlageter (Matt) of Lorain; sisters: Joan M. Bellisario and Patricia A. Bajcer (Donald); all of Lorain and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William G. Saylor in 1977; parents Andrew L. & Emilia C. Matysiak (nee Jarzembowski) and brother Ralph J. Matysiak.
The family will receive friends Friday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Donald Dunson, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
