Howard W. Textor, 97, U.S. Army Veteran

Mr. Textor was born in Massillon on December 22, 1919, the son of Louis R. and Margaret Slater (nee Walker) Textor.
He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1938 B and attended the former Fenn College of Engineering. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. He enjoyed helping the church with the landscaping each year and served as an Usher.
Mr. Textor was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He earned Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 2 Oakleaf clusters.
His working career started as a draftsman with the former Vermilion Brassworks prior to World War II and after discharge from the US Army Air Corp. He then went to work as an insurance sales agent with Prudential Life Insurance until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Textor is a member of the former Masonic Lodge F & AM #522.
He is survived by a son David Textor of Mentor.
Mr. Textor was preceded in death by his wife Audrey in 1991, a brother Richard Textor and a sister Muriel Pettigrew.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4-6 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer and Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 44805 E. North Ridge Road, Amherst, Ohio with full military honors provided by DAV Louis Proy Post 20. The Rev. James C. Cunningham will officiate.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 423 Washington Ave., Lorain 44052.
