Helen M. Bacisin, 96, Thoughtful and Loving Person

Photo of Helen M. Bacisin Helen M. Bacisin (née Feher), 96, of Sheffield Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 12, 1921 in Lorain, Ohio to Joseph and Mary (née Moroz) Feher graduating from St. Mary’s High School in 1939, attending Dyke School of Commerce in Cleveland, and leaving there to spend her war years at General Motors Cleveland Engine Plant.

She married her sweetheart John Bacisin in 1950 making her home in Lorain County in 1957 and having two sons. Helen was the most loving, kindest kindergarten teacher who touched many students’ hearts at St. John’s School in South Lorain from 1960 to 1970 and considered these the best years of her career life. She treasured each and every moment of her teaching years as she recently talked about her children remembering their faces, their smiles, and how each and every one touched her heart.

Helen was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and assisted pastor, Fr. Rath with being the parish secretary for many years. She then went on to work for Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation for 13 years retiring in 1989.

Helen was a thoughtful, loving person throughout her entire life touching many people’s hearts, and treasured and loved her sons who were her pride and joy! She also often talked about her beautiful granddaughter Blair Nicole who she held dear to her heart.

Helen lived in Fremont, California with son Gary for the past 14 years keeping ties back here in Lorain with students Linda (née Demich) Harrell and Cheryl (née Demich) Litz for many years with phone calls, letters, cards, holiday blessings, and just recently moved back to Ohio in June, 2017 where she connected with some of her students from fifty years ago.

She is survived by her sons Robert (Rita Estelle) Bacisin of New Jersey and Gary (Carol Egerton) Baron of Sheffield Lake, with whom she lived with, and Blair Nicole a granddaughter of North Carolina along with nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents Helen was preceded in death by her husband John Bacisin and sisters Julia Sipos and Mary Powell.

Her family will receive friends Monday, August 14 from 10:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish Church, 2143 Homewood Drive (at Grove Ave. Rt. 57). Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Endowment Fund, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
