Miguel Garcia, 86, Enjoyed Gardening and Watching Baseball

Photo of Miguel Garcia Miguel Garcia, 86, of Lorain received his wings peacefully on August 24, 2017 following a brief illness.

Miguel was born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico on December 1, 1929, to Jose and Francisca Garcia.

He moved to Cleveland in 1951 where he lived for two years before moving to Lorain in 1953. There he settled, met and married God's blessing his wife, Matilde Santos-Ortiz. Their union was once more blessed with nine beautiful children.

After various jobs ventures he landed a job in Ford Cleveland Engine Plant One in Brook Park, where he work for many years until his retirement in 1983. Miguel was a member of Iglesia de Dios, Casa de Oracion, Lorain and the United Auto Workers Local 1250, Brook Park.

Miguel enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, playing cards, and a challenging game of dominos. He enjoyed a vigorous walk and greeting old and new friends along the way. He often walked or shall we say carried his cane, but we never figured out why.

He leaves behind to continue his legacy sons Miguel A. Garcia, Freddie Garcia, Harry Garcia and Thomas Garcia all of Lorain; daughters Eileen (Darry) Brooks, Frances Garcia and Lori (Pedro) Sanchez all of Lorain; sisters Celia of New York, Maria, Agripina, brother Alfonso (Carmen) Garcia of Puerto Rico and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Miguel was preceded in death by his loving wife Matilde of 50 years, his sons Abel, Abraham, parents Jose and Francisca Garcia, brothers Fernando and Marco Garcia, brother in laws Jesus and Benito Ortiz.

His family will receive friends Sunday, August 27 from 3 to 7 PM in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. His funeral service will be in Iglesia de Dios, Casa de Oracion, 1600 East 34th Street, Lorain. Pastor Freddie Lugo will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
