Anne Kalosky, 100, Devoted Homemaker
Anne Kalosky, (nee Koscho), age 100, passed away at Amherst Manor Nursing Home on Sunday September 3, 2017.
She was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania on August 6, 1917 to Michael and Mary (nee Mayernik) Koscho and moved to Lorain as a young child.
Until the time of her marriage, she attended St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church which remained close to her heart throughout her entire life. In later years she became a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where she had been an active member of both the church choir as well as its Altar and Rosary Society.
Anne was formerly employed at St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain Steel Stamping, U.S. Steel Corporation, and the Bendix Corporation.
In her later years she was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and quilting; she was also proud to have crafted a quilt which was raffled as a fundraiser for the St. Vincent Altar and Rosary Society.
Anne is survived by daughters Carol Daniels of Lake Havasu, Arizona and Joyce (Bob) Hammond of Elyria. She also leaves granddaughter Nancy (Daniels) Hubert and grandson Jeff Daniels along with two great granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Tony” Kalosky, beloved granddaughter Judy Elaine Daniels, sister Mary Blinka, and brothers Michael, John, Andrew “Cuppy”, Nick, George, and Edward. She was also predeceased by cousins John “K.J.” Koscho, George Koscho, and Elizabeth Konya all of whom she considered more as siblings rather than cousins.
Visitation will be observed on Thursday September 7th from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be conducted there at 10:30 a.m. on Friday with Reverend Donald Dunson, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
