Susan A. Shaw, 70, Enjoyed Flower and Vegetable Gardening
Susan A. “Suzie” Shaw, (nee Combs), age 70, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph on the evening of Thursday September 14, 2017 following a brief illness.
Suzie was born in Scuddy, Kentucky on August 15, 1947 and had been a resident of Lorain since her childhood.
She was a graduate of Clearview High School and went on to attend the Northern Institute of Cosmetology. She had most recently been employed as a beautician at the J.C. Penney Style Salon located at Midway Mall.
In her free time Suzie enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and listening to country music. She also liked watching television and possessed a special interest in old movies, soap operas, and classic shows broadcast on MeTV and similar cable television networks. In addition, she collected elephant statues and related memorabilia.
Survivors include her sons Brian (Sarah) Shaw of Lorain, Jeff (MaryJane) Shaw of Fairview, West Virginia, and Christopher (Rachel) Shaw residing in Chicago, Illinois. Suzie also leaves two grandchildren, one great granddaughter, her sister Brenda (Roy) Costello of Vermilion and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Shelby and Mary (nee Lumpkin) Combs, sisters Carolyn Franklin and Judy Vance, along with her niece Molly.
Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12:00 noon in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to Suzie’s family in care of the funeral chapel.
