Irene M. Debrason, 80, Enjoyed Reading and Traveling

She was born August 17, 1937 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Irene graduated from Lorain High School and worked at US Steel in Lorain as Labor Relations Secretary for over 20 years before retiring.
Irene was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain serving as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteering for church functions and the school PTA. She was a member of the church Senior Sociables and the Marian Guild where she was past Woman-of-the-Year.
She enjoyed reading, playing computer games, traveling and her beloved dog Maggie.
She is survived by her children: Susan Miller (Jeff) of Lorain, Nancy Yakovich (Jack) of Lorain, Chris Jacobs (Ron) of Amherst and James Debrason of Vermilion; grandchildren: Brian Debrason (fiancé Kristyn), Megan Karhusz (Anthony), Cory Jacobs, Kyle Jacobs, Zach Yakovich and Maddie Miller; great grandchildren: Brian Debrason, Ryder Debrason, Hailey Debrason, Cara Karhusz and Emma Karhusz and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathy and Jack Hall of North Ridgeville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years and past Deacon of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church James K. Debrason in 2008; parents Jacob & Rose Szymanel, brother Stanley Szymanel and sister Jeanette Knight.
The family will receive friends Friday October 6th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 7th at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church of Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
